Reports in Italy claim that Daniele De Rossi wants a reunion with Roma striker Artem Dovbyk at Genoa, that the Giallorossi are keen to shift the Ukrainian, but that a deal between the two clubs may still prove challenging to pull off.
Dovbyk joined Roma in a deal worth €30.5m plus add-ons in the summer of 2024, going on to score 12 goals from 32 league appearances during his first season at the Stadio Olimpico. His 2025-26 campaign was plagued by injuries, though limiting him to just three starts in the league across the season.
Roma are now looking to move on: Donyell Malen impressed with his tally of 14 goals from 18 appearances during the second half of the 2025-26 season, and reports over the last few weeks indicate that Mason Greenwood is Gian Piero Gasperini’s first choice to come in and bolster the Giallorossi attack.
With Marseille holding out for a €50m fee for Greenwood, and if Roma are able to land a deal with the Ligue 1 outfit, it is likely to spell the end of Dovbyk’s days at the Stadio Olimpico.
There have also been reports earlier this week that Roma are interested in Italian-born Germany youth international Niccolo Tresoldi, but that this would specifically require a sale of Dovbyk first.
According to the latest reports in Italy, former Roma head coach De Rossi is keen to bring Dovbyk to Marassi for 2026-27, but this might be easier said than done.

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia and TMW, representatives from the two clubs are in contact, but Dovbyk’s €3.5m-per-season salary is expected to be too high for Genoa to handle. His signing would only be possible if Roma are able to ‘do them a favour’ from a salary standpoint.
Roma are keen to shift Dovbyk, but the latest TMW update claims that they feel a move abroad is more likely, and if possible, they would prefer to sell the striker outright rather than sending him on loan with an option to buy.

Dovbyk remains under contract with the Giallorossi until the summer of 2029.
Turkish side Trabzonspor has also been touted as a potential destination for the 29-year-old this summer.
