Roberto De Zerbi voiced his frustration after Mykhailo Mudryk sustained an ankle injury in training, a fresh setback that could sideline the Tottenham winger until at least October.

According to Goal.com, the Ukraine international could be out for up to two months. He had only just made his first competitive appearance in 22 months, a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, after serving a suspension for an adverse meldonium finding.

De Zerbi said the problem came from an innocuous passage of play, with no tackle or unusual movement, before pain emerged and scans two days later confirmed the issue.

He added they anticipated a difficult reintegration for Mudryk and stressed the team are not naive, while insisting the squad is strong despite failing to win or score in their first three Premier League matches.

There was better news as James Maddison is available for the trip to Everton, and De Zerbi noted the playmaker could even feature on the left if required.

Richarlison’s future remains unresolved. The forward has until the end of Friday to secure a move to Brazil before their window shuts, and De Zerbi said any transfer is out of his hands, adding the club have done a lot for the player over the past two months.
