Roberto De Zerbi says he is looking forward to the day Dejan Kulusevski returns to action.
The Swede has been out since May 2025 after suffering a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace.
Despite being pictured in training of late, he is not ready to re-join the squad after such a long spell out.
However, De Zerbi was positive about him re-joining the team this season.
“I hope and will be very, very happy to see Kulusevski in the squad,” he said. “I want to put Kulusevski on the list because he’s working very well, very hard. He’s a good guy and he’s a different player.
“He’s improving day by day, it’s been great watching him during the season.
“He deserves to come back because he suffered too much in his career, for his age, for his level as a human, not as a player I’m speaking as a human. He deserves to be on the list.”

With Kulusevski and others including Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert out with long-term injuries, De Zerbi and Spurs have added strength and depth to the squad this summer.
One of the players brought in was Sandro Tonali for a £100 million package fee. De Zerbi explained why they spent so much on the Italian.
“I think the answer is, in the Premier League, it’s a different transfer market,” he explained. “The value of the players in the Premier League is totally different to the other markets in Europe.
“Sandro Tonali’s value is that value because he’s one of the most important midfielders in the Premier League.
“He received two big offers from two big clubs in the Premier League. It’s not correct to say the clubs, but two big clubs fought with us to bring him, and he wanted to come here.”
