Roberto De Zerbi says Spurs are not done in the transfer market despite already spending £237 million on new signings, promising there will be “another bomba!”
Tottenham Hotspur smashed their transfer record to capture Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for £100 million after buying Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United for £85 million.
The Lilywhites have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester City winger Savinho, but De Zerbi has suggested that another big arrival is in the pipeline first.
The Italian told football.london: “In the transfer market when I want one player I become like a shark, no chance to say no!
“The transfer market, it’s not finished for sure, but we completed 60 per cent of our project in the transfer market. Now we have another bomba!”
De Zerbi confirmed that their next signing would be an attacker and when asked if the deal was close to completion, he answered: “I hope, but it’s not finished for sure.”
The 47-year-old also revealed that that his list of transfer targets for this summer was compiled before he even agreed to take on the role of head coach, during his negotiations with sporting director Johan Lange.
“A lot of players you are watching now on the pitch started from mid-March,” he added. “The plan was clear at the beginning. The big problem was to stay up and play in the Premier League again.”
De Zerbi concluded: “I love working in the transfer market. It’s not a pressure, it’s one of the nicest parts of my job.”
