Roberto De Zerbi insisted Spurs cannot obsess over Nottingham Forest and West Ham, warning it would make life 'too tough', after Tottenham finally claimed their first Premier League win of 2026. Despite the upturn, they remain in the bottom three.

As reported by Nottingham Post, Vitor Pereira's side opened the weekend by thumping Sunderland 5-0 on Friday night to put daylight between themselves and the drop zone. On Saturday, late goals for West Ham and Spurs trimmed Forest's cushion back to five points.

West Ham conceded an 88th-minute equaliser at home to Everton, only for Callum Wilson to grab an added-time winner.

Spurs ended a 15-game Premier League winless run as Joao Palhinha prodded an 82nd-minute winner to beat already-relegated Wolves 1-0.

De Zerbi said he hopes the result changes the mindset and that fixating on rivals would heap unnecessary pressure on his players. He added that the squad know what they can do and referenced their Champions League campaign, where they finished fourth. He urged them to stay positive and avoid watching other results.

West Ham sit 17th, three points behind Forest, and are focused on keeping ahead of Spurs. Wilson said they feel in the driving seat if they look after their own results, while admitting they still check others and knew Tottenham were favourites so had to do their job.
