Another summer transfer market will soon end, with August 30 being the deadline for any major deals.

With hours ticking down to 11 p.m. UK time, the window for transfers in England and Scotland will soon close, prompting some clubs to scramble to complete any final piece of business.

It hasn’t been a blockbuster period like in recent years, but there have been plenty of significant acquisitions and sales, with a few more notable moves expected to be announced on the fabled deadline day.

With that being said, we have examined some movements that may finally receive approval.

Aaron Ramsdale

This was bound to happen. The arrival of David Raya at Arsenal last summer all but signaled the beginning of the end of Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, even if head coach Mikel Arteta was keen to alternate between the shot-stoppers. A second year shadowing Raya was never going to be on the cards, but finding a willing suitor proved more difficult than first expected. In the end, newly promoted Southampton struck a £25 million deal for his services. It means a return to the south coast for Ramsdale, who previously enjoyed a period with Bournemouth.

Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United have been crying out for a defensive midfielder, and their prayers may be answered through Manuel Ugarte, who is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after one season for English football’s most decorated club. According to reports, the Red Devils have agreed on a £42.3 million fee with the French champions for the Uruguayan international. The move comes at the same time as midfielder Scott McTominay’s proposed £25.4 million switch to Napoli. Ugarte should come into a United midfield alongside fast-rising star Kobbie Mainoo and skipper Bruno Fernandes.

Victor Osimhen

It’s a shame how things have turned out for Victor Osimhen at Napoli: from leading the club to a first scudetto since the halcyon days of Diego Maradona to an internal falling out and now heading towards the exit door. The destination for the former Serie A top scorer is up in the air. There’s obvious interest from the Saudi Pro League, but a stay in Europe seems more likely, with Chelsea long-term admirers of the Nigerian marksman. If one club needs to spend more in the summer window, it’s the Blues…

Raheem Sterling

Osimhen’s potential arrival at Stamford Bridge might not only be the only business Chelsea will be conducting on deadline day, with several players being told loud and clear that their services are no longer required. Among them is Raheem Sterling, who joined the Blues fresh from another championship success with Manchester City. It’s back up the M60 for the 82-time-capped England international, but not a reunion with Pep Guardiola. Instead, he’s joining the Red Devils, giving head coach Erik ten Hag another option in United’s attacking third.

Jadon Sancho

Everyone enjoys a good transfer merry-go-round. Just when it seemed Jadon Sancho and Ten Hag were back on good terms, it emerges that the former Borussia Dortmund forward is on borrowed time at Old Trafford, with Chelsea (yes!) a potential future home. Sancho, per reports, is holding out for an offer from the Blues despite Juventus persisting with their efforts to sign the winger on loan from Manchester United. This is one to keep an eye on as the final bell approaches.

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell, alongside Sterling, has been informed that he is not part of Maresca’s plans at Stamford Bridge. The 27-year-old has not been selected for any matchday squads at Chelsea this season and is seeking regular first-team football elsewhere. Reports suggest that he has been offered to Manchester United, who are looking for a left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injury history. However, the Red Devils have shown little interest in Chilwell.

Ivan Toney

Having been left out of Brentford’s opening two Premier League matches of the season is no coincidence, with Ivan Toney’s long-awaited departure set to be realized. If not for his suspension, chances are he would have already bid his farewells last summer. Toney was making a strong case to be considered among the league’s premier strikers but is still in catch-up mode following the aforementioned lengthy ban. He’s been linked with a number of England’s biggest clubs, but it’s hard to see who blinks and brings him to their club.

Kingsley Coman

It could take a while to get Kingsley Coman’s answer to “show us your medals.” The forward is a champion in three different leagues, and between 2013 and 2023, he won a winner’s medal with his boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. However, his time in Germany seems numbered, with the Bavarian giants reportedly offering his services to others, including Arsenal. With the Gunners coming agonizingly close to ending a two-decade Premier League drought in recent years, perhaps Coman could be the lucky charm that sees them finally end this lengthy spell of not calling themselves kings of England.
