After failing to get a deal over the line when they first established their interest back in January, Napoli are now hoping to sanction Alejandro Garnacho’s arrival amid his Manchester United exile.

Indeed, the Serie A champions have revived their interest in Garnacho and believe they could get him for a cut-price fee following his fallout with Ruben Amorim.

Amorim told the youngster to find another club in the aftermath of his post-Europa League final antics, which led to United delaying his return to pre-season until late July to allow him to explore a move away.

According to The Mirror, Napoli plan to return with a marginally higher bid than the £40 million offer submited in the winter; they’ll test the Red Devils’ resolve with a £45m proposal, which could see Garnacho reunite with former teammate Scott McTominay – who was named the divsion’s Most Valuable Player upon the culmination of their title triumph – in Italy.

Napoli also added Kevin De Bruyne to Antonio Conte’s ranks after he bid farewell to Manchester City when his contract expired, so it seems as though a youthful acquisition – like 21-year-old Garnacho – wouldn’t go amiss.

Assuming the Argentine has indeed played his final game in red, he will leave Old Trafford with 144 senior appearances to his name, returning 26 goals and 22 assists.

That being said, Fabrizio Romano revealed last month that Garnacho was prioritising a move within the Premier League. He has previously garnered interest from Chelsea, but their precarious PSR situation means they’re now focusing on outgoings.

Additionally, they made ex-Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens their first-choice target over the Carrington graduate, and he officially made the switch to London last week.
