According to a recent report from Rodra (h/t RM4 Arab), Trent Alexander-Arnold’s potential move to Real Madrid is steadily advancing.

However, he also mentions that while Real Madrid fans might hope for a swift deal, the transfer is not expected to happen in January.

Despite calls from within Real Madrid to secure Alexander-Arnold’s services as soon as possible, especially after recent setbacks, the transfer is likely to be pushed to a later date.

Crying out loud for a right-back

Real Madrid’s recent struggles have heightened urgency. Successive defeats at home against Barcelona and AC Milan have stirred concern, particularly in defence.

The team is grappling with defensive errors, a situation made worse by the absences of David Alaba and Dani Carvajal. As of now, Lucas Vazquez is Real Madrid’s only available right-back, a role he’s handling admirably given the circumstances.

However, there is frustration among fans regarding the club’s overall approach to strengthening this position.

The club’s need for a solid right-back is more critical than ever, especially if they intend to remain competitive in all tournaments.  Yet, as things stand, Real Madrid appear to be facing difficulties in identifying a suitable player for this vital role.

Working on Alexander-Arnold’s deal

The most promising candidate is Alexander-Arnold. His contract with Liverpool runs until July 2025, making him a strategic target for Real Madrid’s long-term plans.

While some voices within the club are pushing for an immediate transfer, negotiations appear to be advancing gradually. If things continue at this pace, it is unlikely that Alexander-Arnold will be seen in the white jersey before the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti is turning to the youth squad for short-term solutions. One standout prospect is Jesus Fortea, who has recently been promoted to first-team training.

Although Fortea’s development is promising, expecting him to make an immediate impact at the senior level may be unrealistic. The club’s management will need to be patient as they search for the right addition to strengthen their defence.
