Erling Haaland has revealed a series of reactions from Arsenal fans following Manchester City’s 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Norwegian striker’s ninth-minute finish looked set to earn Guardiola’s side three valuable points in North London at the weekend, only for Gabriel Martinelli to strike in stoppage time and extend Mikel Arteta’s unbeaten run against his former mentor to five matches.

For Manchester City, it was another hard-fought encounter at the end of a testing week that had already seen them edge out Napoli in their UEFA Champions League opener, and defeat Manchester United 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

As has been the case throughout this rivalry in recent years, emotions ran high both during and after the contest, with Arsenal fans celebrating their late equaliser passionately, while City’s players reflected on what might have been.

For Erling Haaland, the spotlight remained fixed as he used his social media accounts to share some of the feedback he received in the immediate aftermath. The forward has already been central to several high-profile flash points between the two clubs, with one notable phrase picked up by television cameras in a previous encounter once again thrown Haaland’s way.

In a string of updates uploaded to his official Snapchat channel following the contest at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, Haaland revealed some of the reactions from Arsenal fans to the result between their side and Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker first revealed an interaction he witnessed with a young Gunners fan, who appeared to be mocking the City striker’s hair before making several gestures towards the 25-year-old as he followed the club’s team coach away from the North London stadium.

One supporter then appeared to take issue with the well known phrase brought to the fore when Manchester City held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium last season, when Haaland yelled in the face of Mikel Arteta, ‘Stay humble, eh!’

Hitting Erling Haaland with the same phrase through Snapchat’s reply feature, the Manchester City striker responded on his story after the weekend’s clash at the Emirates Stadium, “Always, never forget!”

Finally, the Manchester City striker also revealed he was subjected to ‘death threats’ on his Snapchat account, with one user replying to the Norway international, “You watch yourself now mate don’t dare post another Snapchat story or it will be the end of you”.

One user did have some more positive notes to hand the player, writing to him directly, “Arsenal fan here! Think you’re class mate, just glad you’re in the prem.”

Erling Haaland’s decision to share such messages highlights the extremes of supporter behaviour at the top level, where footballing rivalries can spill over into troubling online abuse.

While the majority of comments were light-hearted or even complimentary, the revelation of threatening messages underscores the darker side of social media engagement with elite athletes.

For Manchester City, the focus now turns to maintaining momentum in a season where they are competing on multiple fronts. Erling Haaland’s form remains central to their hopes, particularly given ongoing injury concerns to key players such as Rayan Cherki.

Pep Guardiola has already spoken at length about the strain placed on his squad by scheduling and fatigue, and the Norwegian’s resilience both on and off the pitch will be crucial in the weeks ahead.

Looking forward, Erling Haaland’s online interactions may further fuel the rivalry narrative when the sides meet again later in the season, as Arsenal’s growing confidence under Arteta, paired with Manchester City’s relentless drive for trophies, ensures this fixture will remain one of the Premier League’s most emotionally charged showdowns.
