Real Betis have reportedly reapproached Manchester United to gauge the feasibility of their already proposed deal for Antony.

Much to INEOS’ dismay, the La Liga outfit are refusing to budge from their original offer to take Antony on loan for the entirety of the 2025/2026 campaign before signing him permanently this time next year, as per Diario de Sevilla.

Such an agreement poses little value for United, who are floundering to raise funds to increase the transfer kitty and subsequently bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad, having only signed Matheus Cunha in the window thus far.

Why United are standing firm in their decision to reject Betis’ proposal

Additionally, Antony’s stocks following his impressive loan spell in Seville means his value is now at the highest it’s been since he signed for the Red Devils.

If United agreed to an initial loan and his form proceeded to falter throughout the upcoming campaign, they could find themselves in a situation akin to Jadon Sancho’s, which saw Chelsea pay a £5 million penalty to avoid paying the £25m buy obligation included in his terms.

To avoid taking an unwanted PSR hit this year, the 25-year-old would need to be sold for £32.5m – all but pricing Betis out of a move.

Antony sets sights on Spain return

Aside from the Spaniards, Antony did garner interest from Como a few weeks back, but rebuffed their approach in favour of returning to Betis.

Reports have even suggested he would go as far as reducing his wages to make the deal easier for the side, whom he helped secure Europa League qualification via a sixth-placed league finish.

In the 26 appearances he made during his temporary spell, the 16-capped Brazilian returned nine goals and five assists.
