Younes Taha supplied the clincher in the 51st minute, his second assist of the game, as Groningen beat NEC Nijmegen 2-1.
In the third minute of first half stoppage time, he delivered a whipped cross that Marco Rente headed in to open the scoring.
After the restart, he sparked a fast break and fed Tygo Land to guide a low finish into the bottom right corner (51.).
Taha's all-round threat held up under the numbers: two big chances created, two key passes and two accurate crosses, plus a driven effort that tested the goalkeeper from range (62.). It was sustained creativity rather than flashes.
Groningen's quick transitions gave him room to carry attacks and release runners at pace, with that fast break assist encapsulating how his timing and weight of pass unsettled NEC Nijmegen.
Groningen visit Heracles next, while NEC Nijmegen host Go Ahead Eagles.
