Kang-in Lee’s future could be settled in the coming days, with a move to Atlético de Madrid closer than ever. The former Valencia midfielder is a leading target for Mateu Alemany, who previously worked with him, to bolster Cholo Simeone’s squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are willing to sell the South Korean and are already working on his replacement, Maghnes Akliouche, a 24-year-old Monaco attacking midfielder who can also play on the right.
Atlético have had a difficult start to the window, shaped by the Julián Álvarez saga and failed moves for Cucurella and Bernardo Silva, who joined Real Madrid. Their priorities are clear, a left-back, with all paths pointing to Grimaldo, and Kang-in’s arrival.
A return to La Liga is a matter of time, and signing for Atlético would be his third stint in Spain. He previously represented Valencia and Mallorca before moving to PSG.
Overnight, South Korea’s last-16 hopes disappeared after the Democratic Republic of the Congo won, leaving Kang-in’s side on three points from the group stage. That was not enough to rank among the eight best third-placed teams. The PSG player will have to resolve his future in the coming days.
