Sam Lammers converted from the spot in the 20th minute to launch FC Twente's 2-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles. He then struck again in the second minute of first half stoppage time.
He earned the penalty himself, drawing a foul from Giovanni Van Zwam before rolling the kick into the bottom right. The forward was a constant target through the middle, pinning defenders and attacking the six-yard area.
On the stroke of the interval he doubled the advantage, arriving to finish from very close range after a low delivery across the face. That cushion allowed FC Twente to control territory after the restart.
He kept threatening late on, slicing one wide from the left side (76.). Moments later, he forced Jari de Busser into a low save from the centre after finding space between the centre-backs (79.).
Lammers' numbers backed up the eye test: six attempts with four on target, 13 touches in the box, three key passes and the penalty won. It summed up a complete centre-forward display that kept the Supereagles off balance.
FC Twente rise from eighth to seventh in the Eredivisie. They visit Spakenburg in the KNVB Beker next. The Supereagles travel to Roda JC in the same competition.
