Will Lankshear equalised in the 62nd minute and then won it in the first minute of second half stoppage time as Middlesbrough beat Lincoln City 2-1.
He levelled by reacting quickest to a loose ball and sweeping in from close range (62.). The moment came after he had repeatedly pinned the centre-backs, attacking the six-yard area.
Lankshear later headed wide under pressure (87.) before deciding it in the first minute of second half stoppage time, finishing from close range after Riley McGree's pass.
He finished with five attempts, three on target, and eight touches in the box, underlining a constant penalty-area presence. He is now on two goals, joint third in the Championship scoring chart.
Because Boro's full-backs supplied early and often, his near-post runs and quick resets kept the visitors off balance, with deliveries from Callum Brittain and Neto Borges repeatedly locating him in dangerous pockets.
Boro visit Blackburn Rovers next. Lincoln City host Portsmouth.
