Decisive figure provides second half winner for PSV at Fortuna Sittard | OneFootball

Ivan Perišić decided it in the 76th minute with a composed finish as PSV beat Fortuna Sittard 2-1.

He had hinted earlier, meeting a corner with a header that drifted wide in the sixth minute. The Croatia international kept offering a back-post target, repeatedly pulling defenders deep.

After the restart he continued to attack that channel and then arrived to sweep in Mauro Júnior's cut-back (76.), the decisive action of the night.

Perišić finished with nine touches in the box, five aerials won and 20 successful final third passes, plus two attempts and one big chance created, underlining how he pinned Fortuna back and connected PSV's left side to the penalty area.

With Boeren pumping 37 crosses and dictating territory, his aerial presence and timing across the far post repeatedly unsettled Fortuna's defence.

Boeren remain top of the Eredivisie and now visit Newcastle United in the Champions League, before hosting NAC Breda. Fortuna Sittard travel to Groningen next in the league.
