Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has taken to social media to react after West Ham United got relegated on Sunday.

A 3-0 win over Leeds United at the London Stadium was not enough to keep West Ham up as Tottenham Hotspur needed to lose to Everton for the Hammers to survive the drop.

The Irons finished 18th in the Premier League table, two points off safety, and they will now spend next season in the Championship.

Rice was pictured reacting to the development at Selhurst Park shortly before Arsenal came out to lift the title.

The former West Ham captain was clearly unhappy and has now put his feelings into words on Instagram.

Rice left the Hammers for Arsenal for a then-British record £105m in 2023, and the club did not spend the money sensibly.

West Ham failed to get the perfect replacement for the England international midfielder, and years of poor and underwhelming recruitment have culminated in relegation.

They are now preparing for life in the second division and are considering sacking manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

West Ham are reportedly interested in appointing Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil to replace the Portuguese.

Former Burnley manager Scott Parker is also being eyed as the Hammers look to appoint their fifth manager in two years.

They are also keen on appointing a new director of football, and Middlesbrough head of football Kieran Scott is on their radar.

A major squad overhaul is on the cards as West Ham need to raise around £150 million in player sales to balance the books after getting relegated cost them £100m.

Everton are already plotting a £10m move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and more Hammers stars are expected to leave for greener pastures.
