According to SPORT, a key meeting is expected to take place soon between Alan Godoy’s agents and Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, to define the club’s plans for the young striker.

Godoy, who joined the Catalan club just four months ago from Eldense, showed impressive form in the latter part of the season, even though Barça Atletic suffered relegation from the Primera RFEF.

Barcelona invested around €150,000 in signing the forward during the winter transfer window, hoping he would help the reserve side avoid the drop.

While the objective was not achieved, Godoy’s individual performances stood out, especially considering he spent eight weeks sidelined with injury.

Despite the team’s struggles, the 22-year-old remains optimistic about his future and has two more years left on his contract.

Hoping for first-team involvement

Godoy has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona and continue growing within the club. However, both the player and his agents believe the time has come to take a step forward, beyond just playing for the reserve team.

Their goal is for Godoy to remain involved with Barça Atletic while also getting chances to train and feature with Hansi Flick’s first team.

The German manager has already shown a willingness to trust young talent, and Godoy sees this as an opportunity to break through if given the right support.

Deco and the player’s agents are expected to evaluate the situation in depth this week. If the club wants to keep Godoy, new terms may be necessary, ones that reflect his ambition to gain exposure at a higher level.

A call will soon be made. Godoy’s next step could include taking part in Barcelona’s pre-season with the first team, giving him the chance to prove he belongs among the senior squad.

For now, though, his future remains open, but the desire to stay and succeed at Barça is stronger than ever.
