According to a report from La Vanguardia, Barcelona sporting director Deco has decided to proceed with a lawsuit against Victor Font over the comments made on the signing of Brazilian forward Vitor Roque.
The outlet mentions that this legal move comes after a failed reconciliation hearing held in mid-June, where Font, via his lawyer, confirmed that he stands by his statements and refuses to issue a retraction.
Font, a former presidential candidate at Barcelona, has repeatedly questioned the transparency of Joan Laporta’s administration.
Regarding Roque’s transfer, he stated publicly that he is “happy for the truth to be settled in court,” and continues to raise doubts about how the current board is handling decisions behind the scenes.
The controversy stems from an interview Font gave several months ago, where he claimed that Deco had offered Roque to Barcelona while Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff were still in charge of the sporting department.

At that time, Deco was not yet officially part of the club’s board and was not the player’s agent either. Roque was then represented by Andre Cury.
Font added that Roque was rejected at the time due to financial fair play constraints and because he was not a priority.
However, once Deco became sporting director, the signing of Vitor Roque was finalised. Font used this change to suggest that the process lacked clarity, stating, “I’m exposing the facts, which is why I’m asking for transparency.”
As of now, Font has not received official notification regarding the lawsuit, but the legal process is expected to move forward.
He has argued that the accusation of lying is not applicable in this context, as it can only be committed by a public official, judge, or civil servant and not by a football executive.
