Defender announces exit from Corinthians in 2025 at awards ceremony

On the morning of this Monday (8), during the ESPN Bola de Prata awards, in which she won the award for best center-back, Mariza announced that she will not remain at Corinthians for the next season. Her contract ends at the end of this season and will not be extended.

In an interview with the press at the event, the defender communicated her decision and said that soon she will reveal her next destination. It is worth remembering that, in recent weeks, Meu Timão reported that the player received inquiries from Mexican football: “Unfortunately, I will not stay at the club for the 2026 season. As for my destination, I can't say much about it. The season is ending here at Corinthians, so probably very soon everyone will find out”, she stated.

Mariza arrived at Corinthians in 2022 after standing out at Grêmio, where she played as a defensive midfielder. When she joined the Alvinegro, then coached by Arthur Elias, the player began playing as a center-back and, since then, has established herself in the position, earning call-ups to the Brazil Women’s National Team.

In total, she played 140 matches wearing the Brabas jersey (119 as a starter), with 99 wins, 26 draws, and 15 losses – a 76.9% success rate. Additionally, she scored nine goals and provided 10 assists. She also won 11 titles (Paulista Championship, Brasileirão, Supercopa, Copa Paulista, and Libertadores).

In 2026, the Brabas' season will begin at the end of January, when the women’s squad will travel to London, England, where they will face Gotham FC (United States) in the semifinals of the Champions Cup (the Club World Cup for the category).
