On, then off, and now back on again? L’Équipe understands that Chelsea’s Deivid Washington (19) may yet join RC Strasbourg Alsace before the closure of the transfer window.

The outlet broke the news this Friday morning that the Blues would offload the Brazilian centre-forward to the BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 side. Washington signed for Chelsea from Santos last year in a €16m move, putting pen to paper over a seven-year deal with the Blues. The 19-year-old spent the better part of the 2023-2024 campaign with Chelsea’s U21 squad, with which he logged six goals in 11 games.

The fact Chelsea’s sister club would break their record transfer for Washington raised eyebrows within the game. The deal was advanced up to the point a medical in London was scheduled for the 19-year-old. However, L’Equipe understands the deal collapsed in the 11th hour.

But the move has now been reignited with discussions once again taking place. However, Chelsea and Strasbourg are now in a race against time to conclude a deal.
