Former Spurs manager expected to take over at Napoli

Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski has denied suggestions he could join former manager Antonio Conte at Napoli.

Conte, who left Spurs by mutual consent last March, has been strongly tipped to take over in Naples following their nightmare Serie A title defence.

After ending their 33-year wait to win the League in 2023, Napoli fell to a tenth-placed finish.

It will be the first time the Italian has worked since leaving north London after an explosive rant about the culture at Tottenham following a draw with Southampton.

While Conte’s stock in the Premier League may have been damaged somewhat, he remains one of the most high-profile managers in Italian football, having won Serie A four times across spells at Juventus and Inter Milan.

Notoriously a big spender in the transfer market, Conte has been linked with a number of his former Spurs players.

Kulusevski and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been touted as potential targets, while Radu Dragusin – who only arrived at Spurs in January – has also been linked.

Danish international Hojbjerg has entered the final year of his contract and could be one of up to 11 players who may leave the club this summer.

Standard Sport understands Tottenham will consider bids for Richarlison despite the Brazilian recently dismissing talk about his future as “fake news”.

Asked about the links with Napoli, Kulusevski told Aftonbladet: “I don’t know anything about that. I have heard that Conte is going there. It will be fun to see him there, to see him back in football.”

Quizzed specifically about staying at Spurs, the Sweden international added: “Yes, I think so.”

Tottenham’s squad has already been boosted this summer with the signing of Swedish teenager Lucas Bergvall, who will arrive from Djurgardens in pre-season after a deal was confirmed in February.

Timo Werner, who spent the last six months of the season on loan from RB Leipzig, will return for another temporary stint next season with an £8.5m option to make that a permanent arrangement.
