Meridian Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: MRDN) has officially announced Flamengo idol and former player Dejan Petkovic as its new partner-ambassador and strategic partner for Brazil. According to Coluna Do Fla, the global tech group operates in more than 20 digital entertainment markets and is listed on Nasdaq.

The move is presented as a landmark in Brazil, with Petkovic seen as the first elite former footballer to enter iGaming as a corporate partner rather than a standard brand ambassador. The agreement was sealed at a gala night in Rio de Janeiro.

Meridianbet was founded in Serbia in 2001, the same year Petkovic struck his famous free-kick against Vasco in the 89th minute. Now, 25 years on, the holding company and the former footballer are uniting in Brazil.

The partnership will anchor the brand on Petkovic TV, a new multi-platform hub for lifestyle, sport, culture and entertainment. Its first episode is scheduled for Thursday 28 at 17:00 across digital platforms.

Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, Meridian Holdings oversees six strategic business units. Its B2C arm includes Meridianbet Group, licensed in Europe, Africa and South America, RKings Competitions in the United Kingdom, MexPlay in Mexico and Classics for a Cause in Australia.

On the B2B side, it owns Expanse Studios, a games development division, and the global GMAG platform. This in-house stack provides bank-level cybersecurity and strict regulatory compliance for the Brazilian market. The Brazil launch is presented as a key step in the company’s international expansion alongside Petkovic.
