Denis Bouanga (29) has revealed that he wants an immediate return to Ligue 1. The Gabonese winger left AS Saint-Étienne in 2022 to join Los Angeles FC.
Bouanga’s move to the MLS has certainly been a success. This season, he finished as the top scorer in the division and led his team to the championship final, before losing 2-1 to Colombus. However, just over one year after leaving La Hexagone, Bouanga is now keen on a return.
In an interview with Le Maine Libre, Bouanga was unequivocal in stating his desire. “My objective is clear – I want to come back to France, or to another European club.”
He then specified that he wishes to make the move now, during the MLS off-season, rather than in the summer. “It’s now that I need to hop on the train. It is a more opportune time than in June because the competition will have restarted, and it will be more difficult for the club to let a player leave,” said the former ASSE winger.
OGC Nice are interested in Bouanga, according to L’Équipe. Le Gym are in the market for a versatile attacker, however, they could be set to recruit Real Socidead’s Mohamed-Ali Cho. It is unclear whether the signing of the SCO Angers forward would spell an end to the club’s reported interest in Bouanga.
