Lamine Camara’s deadline-day move to Chelsea collapsed, leaving the Senegal international at AS Monaco after the Principality club pulled the plug in the final hour. Speaking after Friday night’s 2-1 win over RC Lens, teammate Denis Zakaria outlined the advice he gave.
“Chelsea? I told him that it was good but that it is better here,” he joked. As reported by Get French Football News, the Switzerland international spoke in a mixed zone interview.
Camara has since said he has turned the page, despite the club’s CEO admitting the midfielder had asked him to help facilitate a move.
“I know the player and the person that he is; he is very professional. I think that [the transfer saga] has given him even more strength. He was incredible today.”
To refocus, Camara said he consulted several teammates, including Zakaria, who previously spent a season on loan at Chelsea.
