Denzel Dumfries, the Inter Milan right-back, says Memphis has been taking Corinthians into the Netherlands dressing room after the 3-1 win over Tunisia on Thursday.

"He tells us incredible stories about Corinthians, how big the club is, and he is happy there," he told ESPN.

Since Memphis arrived at Parque São Jorge, Dutch players have been linked with the club. Earlier this month, Galatasaray winger Noa Lang was seen in Corinthians training gear, and last June Arsenal right-back Jurrien Timber wore the 2024/2025 shirt.

The Corinthians No 10 and his Netherlands team-mates are through to the second phase of the World Cup after taking seven points to top their group. They face Morocco on Monday 29 at 22:00.

Qualification also brings a direct financial boost for Corinthians. Fifa pays the club 5,000 dollars per day while Memphis remains available for the Netherlands.

Memphis is negotiating a contract extension with Corinthians. His deal runs out at the end of July and he has the club’s offer, with a positive expectation behind the scenes given his interest in staying at Parque São Jorge. The current contract has yet to appear in CBF and FPF systems because of a club registration error.
