Derby boss John Eustace hints at Hamza Choudhury deal as Leicester exit nears | OneFootball

Derby County manager John Eustace has suggested the Rams are close to agreeing a deal for Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

Speaking on Thursday, Eustace said: "Hopefully we can get one player in before the weekend, that would be great." He was speaking to BBC Derby Sport.

Choudhury, 28, came through Leicester’s academy and has made 166 senior appearances. He has been a squad option in recent seasons, including loans at Sheffield United and Watford.

He was left out of the squad for Tuesday night’s match against Ipswich Town. Russell Martin said he would not be considered for selection while interest remains, though a return was not ruled out if no move is completed.

"Any player who has been promoted out of the Championship and with Championship experience will help the group."

The transfer window closes next Tuesday.
