Derby climb to seventh as Banel hits winner

Derby County beat Oxford United 1-0 at Pride Park Stadium to rise from eighth to seventh in the Championship.
In the 22nd minute, Jaydon Banel swept a right-footed strike into the bottom left from outside the box after Sam Szmodics led a fast break.
Jamie Cumming kept Oxford United alive, tipping away Szmodics from close range (81.).
After Dion Sanderson went off injured (71.), Sondre Langås stepped in as Derby tightened up and protected the lead.
Five minutes were indicated, and Mark Harris steered a central chance wide in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time.
Derby controlled 66.9% of possession and registered 15 attempts, winning seven corners. Oxford United had 11 attempts but failed to record a shot on target.
Next, Derby visit Norwich City. Oxford United host Wrexham.
