According to the Daily Mail, the Championship side are hoping to fend off any interest from top level sides in the goalkeeper.

Zetterstrom joined the Rams in the 2024 summer transfer window, and he has established himself as first-choice between the sticks at Pride Park.

He’s made 67 appearances in the second tier of English football in that time, including featuring in all 27 of their games so far this season.

The Swede has kept six clean sheets and conceded 35 goals, with Derby hoping to contend for a play-off place by the end of the 2025-26 Championship season.

As per the Daily Mail's report, Derby County have placed a bumper £15 million price tag on the 27-year-old in a bid to fend off any interest in him this month.

The Rams are keen to keep hold of their shot-stopper at this stage of the campaign, and will not consider any offers below the valuation that they have set.

It’s believed that a number of top level clubs are interested in Zetterstrom, with bitter rivals Nottingham Forest linked in recent times in late November, but the Championship side are hoping to hold onto him until at least the summer.

Zetterstrom is in the final 18 months of his current contract, having agreed a three-year deal when he joined in August 2024.

His deal will expire in the summer of 2027, which could mean that Derby will have to listen to offers when the campaign comes to a close in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

Eustace’s side are currently 10th in the Championship table, just two points adrift of the play-off places but with a fixture played more than some of their top six rivals.

Next up for the Rams is a home clash against an out-of-form West Brom on Friday night in an 8pm kick-off.

John Eustace could have big Derby County issue in summer with Jacob Widell Zetterstrom

Zetterstrom is a key player in Eustace’s side, and it would be a big loss to have to replace him in the final days of the January market.

In that respect, a £15 million price tag is absolutely appropriate, with the window set to close on February 2, but that could make John Eustace's task difficult in a few months time when the Swede only has a year remaining on his deal.

A summer sale would make more sense, as it is the last chance for the club to really cash in on his market value, but it's not something that Eustace will necessarily want to do with a key player.

But, ideally, Derby could tie him down to a new deal, as he has become one of the top goalkeepers in the Championship since moving to Pride Park - if Zetterstrom wants to stay at the club of course.
