Didier Deschamps will announce France’s World Cup squad on 14 May, with a Clairefontaine camp and friendlies in Nantes and Lille to follow. The 2026 tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July.

L'Équipe reports that the squad will be revealed on TF1’s 20:00 news on Ascension Thursday, moved from 13 May after Lens v PSG was pushed to Wednesday. He signalled he could go with 25 or 26 players after recent public hesitation.

FIFA has set Monday 25 May for clubs to release internationals before the tournament, except for players involved in finals. The Champions League final is on Saturday 30 May in Budapest and could involve up to six players if PSG reach the final.

Not everyone will be called on that date. Domestic seasons conclude on 24 May in England, Italy and Spain, the German Cup final is on 23 May with Bayern still in the hunt. The Coupe de France final on Friday 22 May will not involve any of the players who featured on the American tour, and the Europa League final on 20 May could only affect Lucas Digne with Aston Villa.

The plan is to give players two or three days with family before regrouping at Clairefontaine on 27 or 28 May. France will face Côte d’Ivoire in Nantes on four June, then play in Lille on eight June against an opponent to be decided by play-off results.

They will fly to Boston on 10 June, six days before opening their campaign on 16 June in New Jersey against Senegal.
