Manchester City still have Vincent Kompany on their radar. Despite his long-term contract with FC Bayern, the English club are apparently sticking to their plan

The situation at FC Bayern is actually clear: Vincent Kompany only extended his contract early until 2029 in October 2025 and is expected to continue on his current path at the record champions in the long term. However, other ideas are apparently being considered in the background – at least in England

According to Sport BILD, Manchester City are still keeping an eye on their former captain as a possible successor to Pep Guardiola, with Kompany at the top of the Premier League club’s list despite his extension in Munich

The Skyblues‘ hopes are said to be clearly defined: should Kompany land the big one in his second season at FC Bayern and win the treble, he could feel ready for the next step in his career and look for a new challenge

Bayern react clearly to City’s interest

At the Säbener Straße, however, these thoughts have not met with much approval, with CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen making it very clear in Sport BILD how Bayern view the situation

„We have just extended our contract with Vincent, which is why we are not even asking ourselves this question,“ Dreesen explained clearly

The club boss also emphasized that Kompany had made his decision very consciously: „I’m also convinced that Vincent won’t do anything that he hasn’t thought about carefully beforehand and hasn’t played through all the scenarios that could possibly call such a consideration into question.“

Dreesen even goes one step further and makes it clear that external interested parties do not change the fundamental situation: „That’s why I believe 100 percent that he asked himself this question before he committed himself. His answer was to extend the contract, and that’s why it doesn’t matter at all whether someone else comes along now or how many more titles we hope to win.“

The Belgian could make history this season. Having already secured the championship, FC Bayern are still involved in the decisive phases of the Champions League and the DFB Cup. The dream of the treble is alive – and that is precisely what makes Kompany even more interesting for top international clubs

At the moment, however, the situation is clear: FC Bayern is planning for the long term with its coach and does not want to change course. The contract extension until 2029 was a clear signal – both internally and externally.
