The powers that be at Real Madrid have closed a deal for yet another exciting young prospect to join the club’s youth ranks.
The player in question? Jeremy de León.
The name of winger De León of course took its place centre stage in the headlines in Madrid over the course of the last week.
This came after word was forthcoming that the 19-year-old had been identified as a chief January target on the part of Florentino Pérez and co.
Negotiations, in turn, were kicked into gear with Castellón of Spain’s 3rd tier, over the terms of a cut-price deal ahead of the expiration of De León’s contract in the summer.
And, despite rival interest from the likes of Valencia and Villarreal, on Monday, Los Blancos appear to have gotten their man.
As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the ‘documents [have been] signed for Real Madrid to sign Jeremy De Leon for [the club’s]’ Castilla team.
It is added that the attacker, who is understood to have actively pushed for a move to Spain’s capital, has put pen to paper on terms with Real through the summer of 2026.
*Romano’s claim that De León will be the first Puerto Rican player in Real Madrid’s storied history is actually incorrect, with Eduardo Ordóñez having in fact been the first, all the way back in 1926.
