Investigators searched the German football federation’s Frankfurt headquarters on Wednesday as part of a corruption probe linked to Euro 2024.
German authorities said enquiries also took place elsewhere in the country and focused on preferential tickets offered to host cities, with allegations that a suspect, then working for a host city, received unauthorised benefits from figures inside the Euro 2024 organising company. Several officials are also accused of granting host cities exclusive rights of first refusal on tickets, which some cities partly used.
Germany won the right to stage Euro 2024 over Türkiye in a vote in September 2018.
The tournament organiser was a joint venture between the DFB and UEFA, majority-owned by UEFA and based at the federation’s former offices in Frankfurt.
During the finals, Germany were eliminated by Spain in the quarter-finals, 1-2.
