DFB president Bernd Neuendorf will lead a review with Julian Nagelsmann after Germany’s shock World Cup exit in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

According to BuLi News, Neuendorf said he met the head coach yesterday for an extended discussion alongside sporting leads Andreas Rettig and Rudi Völler, and that all agreed the tournament fell short of expectations.

He added that, in the coming days, they will calmly and thoroughly analyse why the team failed to realise its potential, and he insisted they cannot simply carry on as if nothing had happened.

Neuendorf also thanked supporters who backed the team in the United States and Canada, as well as those at home, noting deep disappointment at the early end to the campaign.

Pressure was already building on Nagelsmann before the finals. A 7-1 win over Curaçao briefly lifted the mood, then came unconvincing outings against Côte d’Ivoire, a 2-1 win, and Ecuador, a 2-1 loss.

In the Round of 32, a defeat to Paraguay on penalties intensified public doubt surrounding the 38-year-old.
