Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß blasted referee Christian Dingert and his team after he felt several calls went against the German champions in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, including Luis Díaz’s second-half sending off.

German Football Association (DFB) referee spokesperson Alex Feuerherdt has now responded to the criticism from the Bayern chief, who even described the refereeing as the worst he has ever seen in a Bundesliga match.

“Perhaps his opinion was influenced by the fact that the majority of these match-relevant decisions went against FC Bayern. But we are by no means talking about scandalous mistakes here,” Feuerherdt told Abendzeitung.

“The yellow-red card was a factual decision by the referee. Such factual decisions are generally final; therefore, except in the case of serious errors – such as confusing one player for another – the suspension usually stands,” Feuerherdt underlined.
