Di Marzio: No favourite to replace Fonseca as Milan only have a list to ‘be ready’

Paulo Fonseca has been at the centre of attention in the last few days, following the 1-3 defeat against Liverpool, and the big litmus test is scheduled for tonight as AC Milan will take on Inter. However, there is currently no favourite to replace him.

The defeat earlier this week was the final straw for many, but sacking the manager ahead of the derby would have been a very poor decision. In any case, Fonseca is on his last life and will need to show something tonight, and even just a win might not be enough.

Speaking to Sky Italia after Fonseca’s press conference last night, as cited by MilanNews, Gianluca Di Marzio shared the latest on the situation. He highlighted the fact that Milan don’t have a favourite in mind to replace the manager, simply having a list to be ready.

“Fonseca seemed worried at the end of the match against Liverpool. Today I saw him charged up. But in the event of a heavy defeat, he could be sacked. There are no names ahead of the others: there is a list because a big club like Milan must be ready for all scenarios. Among the various hypotheses, there are Sarri, Tuchel, Tudor and in the background also Allegri,” he stated.

It remains to be seen what will happen tonight, but the Milan management will certainly be keeping their eyes open for improvements. Equally, not just Fonseca but also the players must show that they really want to win tonight.
