FC Bayern win 5:1 against TSG Hoffenheim on matchday 21. The Bayern stars in the FCBinside individual review.

Manuel Neuer: Defended a dangerous Hoffenheim cross well in the first half. Made a brilliant save after Kramaric’s low shot. But then made a wild lapse when he played the ball into Asllani’s feet unchallenged. The latter only had to play the ball across to Kramaric and the Croatian slotted home to make it 1:1. Neuer is fully responsible for this goal. In the second half, however, Neuer made a strong reflex save against Asllani. In view of his bad mistake for Neuer, overall grade: 4

Josip Stanisic: Had the first chance for Bayern, but put the ball too far forward when he ran in alone on TSG keeper Baumann. Stanisic had everything under control as a right-back, was very strong in tackles and also made his mark going forward. Good game. Grade: 2

Dayot Upamecano: Slightly pushed Asllani before his header hit the crossbar – but this was not judged as a foul. Upamecano was attentive and played without mistakes. Solid game from the centre-back. Mark: 3

Jonathan Tah: Played a solid game in central defence without making any mistakes, but also without any major highlights. Tah was substituted after around an hour. Mark: 3

Alphonso Davies: Put the ball just over the Hoffenheim goal from a good position. Also headed over again towards the end of the game. Davies tried to control the defence, but hardly caused any trouble going forward. All in all, still a grade: 3

Joshua Kimmich: Held the reins on his birthday, but worked diligently and kept things tidy. Decent performance. Grade: 3

Aleksandar Pavlovic: Headed just wide of the goal after a corner. Played many good passes in Bayern’s build-up play. Decent game from the international. Created danger with a long-range shot in the final minutes. Mark: 3

Michael Olise: Tested Hoffenheim goalkeeper Baumann with a dangerous shot from the edge of the box. Didn’t get into any dangerous action for a long time after that – until he set up Diaz for the 4:1. Olise was substituted straight after his best move of the game. Overall grade: 3

Serge Gnabry: Shot just to the left of the goal right at the start of the game. Once served Kane with a smart pass, but the goalscorer missed. Made an effort in his first game after his contract extension, but could hardly set any offensive highlights. Bland performance from Gnabry. Grade: 4

Luis Diaz: Took the penalty that Kane converted to make it 1:0. Failed with a sharp shot at Baumann, who could only clear at Kane’s feet – but the Englishman missed the chance criminally. The second penalty for Bayern was also awarded after a foul on Diaz. Diaz then scored the goal to make it 3:1 himself with a clever right-footed shot into the bottom right corner after an assist from Kane. With his goal to make it 4:1, Diaz scored a brace after a beautiful assist from Olise, and with his 5:1 after a pass from Musiala, he even scored a treble. The Colombian constantly whirled through the Hoffenheim defence and could not be controlled. Very strong game from Diaz. World class! Grade: 1

Harry Kane: Coolly converted the penalty to make it 1:0 for Bayern. Then missed a huge chance when he got the ball right at his feet after a Baumann save, but shot next to the goal from point-blank range. Tried a long-range shot shortly afterwards, but Baumann was able to save. Then Kane missed another great chance: After a beautiful pass from Gnabry, he couldn’t get the ball under control and Baumann was able to hold. Kane was then ice-cold again with his penalty goal to make it 2:1. Shortly afterwards, he set up Diaz’s goal to make it 3:1. At the start of the second half, he had a good header chance, but Baumann held alert. After just over an hour, Kane was substituted. Two penalty goals and an assist – a good game overall. Grade: 2

Substitutes

Lennart Karl (60th for Olise): Couldn’t get the ball under control once in the penalty area. Then shot again next to the post. Decent substitute appearance overall. Grade: 3

Jamal Musiala (63rd for Gnabry): Failed to beat Baumann with a left-footed shot and shot wide once. Set up Diaz’s goal to make it 5:1. Musiala was at pains to create chances for Bayern throughout his time on the pitch. Mark: 3

Hiroki Ito (63rd for Tah): Took over Tah’s position in central defense. Didn’t really stand out anymore. 3

Nicolas Jackson (67th for Kane): Lost the ball when he was quite unchallenged in the direction of Hoffenheim’s goal. The Senegalese never posed a threat. Mark: 4

Konrad Laimer (80th for Davies): Made his comeback from injury but came on too late to score
