Argentina face fresh injury concerns 60 days before the World Cup after Cristian 'Cuti' Romero was injured for Tottenham and Dibu Martínez suffered a setback at Aston Villa.
According to SuperDepor.com, the defender challenged for a ball in the opposition box during Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland, was shoved by Brian Brobbey, then collided with goalkeeper Antonín Kinský and stayed down, needing medical attention.
He eventually stood up and tried to continue, but pain in his right leg, thought to be around the knee, forced him off. He left the field in tears and Kevin Danso replaced him.
The incident has heightened concern within the national set-up, with the final World Cup squad announcement due in the coming days.
In a separate setback, Emiliano 'Dibu' Martínez felt discomfort during the warm-up for Aston Villa against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and did not take part.
In recent days it was also confirmed that Lautaro Martínez aggravated a muscle tear at Inter after returning with two goals against Roma in Serie A.
