Ademola Lookman has reportedly given up the idea of signing for Barcelona in favour of signing for another Italian club. The reports reveal that after Barcelona came very close to signing the Nigerian, he seems to have opted for Italian giants Inter Milan instead of the Spanish giants.

Sources indicate that the player, who was in advanced negotiations with Barcelona's representatives, seems to have chosen another option. Despite Atalanta wanting more than €40 million to let the player go, Inter Milan are preparing an attractive offer for the player and are ready to pay the money to bring the Nigerian into the Nerazzurri's attacking line-up.

Barcelona's hesitation cost them another goal!

Barcelona wanted to sign one of two options, Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford after failing to sign Nico Williams, who renewed his contract with Athletic Club. One of the other options was Ademola, but due to a lot of financial calculations and obstacles, Barcelona lost the chance to sign the player as well in the end.

Lookman appeared to be an ideal signing for Barça—both practical and well-suited to their needs. His speed, aggressive attacking approach, and knack for finding the net aligned perfectly with Hansi Flick’s tactical vision.

Beyond his on-field contributions, his growing appeal, particularly among African supporters, offered the club a chance to expand its commercial reach into untapped markets.

Yet, as has become a recurring theme in recent transfer sagas, Barcelona delayed, allowing competitors to seize the initiative.

While Inter Milan act decisively, Barça remain trapped in a cycle of financial constraints and indecision, struggling to settle on a coherent strategy.

With Juventus already probing for Rashford and Díaz deemed too expensive, Barcelona’s list of viable wingers is shrinking fast.

Should Lookman finalize his move to Inter, it will mark another frustrating chapter in the club’s history of transfer-market hesitations and missed chances.

Now, the clock is ticking for Barcelona’s decision-makers. Securing an elite winger is becoming a pressing priority—but with each passing day, their choices grow fewer.
