Liverpool signed Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans during the summer window.

The 18-year-old is a highly rated goalkeeper, and the Reds are thought to have paid a package, including add-ons, worth £30m.

The Reds have Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili as their two main goalkeepers at the moment, and they sent Brughmans back to Genk on loan for the rest of the season.

Were Bayern Munich interested in Lucca Brughmans?

It has been reported in the media that Liverpool faced competition from Bayern Munich for Lucca Brughmans during the transfer window.

However, Christian Falk has exclusively told CFBayern Insider that Bayern were not at all interested in the goalkeeper, although they consider him an interesting player.

The Bavarian giants have Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig as their two main goalkeepers, and both will share minutes in the first team this season.

The Bild journalist said: “It is NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich were interested in Lucca Brughmans. He’s an interesting player but Bayern already has interesting players in this position.

“The future is in the team, with Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig sharing minutes in 2026/27. Bayern Munich just didn’t have an eye on Brughmans.”

It is not clear what approach Bayern will take for the future, but certainly, they did not have an eye on the Belgian youngster.

Will Bayern Munich sign a new goalkeeper?

Neuer is perfectly fit and doing a terrific job between the sticks at the moment.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of the 40-year-old, but he seems to be enjoying his football, even at this age.

Neuer has not lost his reflexes, and Bayern are not forcing him to consider retirement either. It purely rests on his own decision.

At the same time, Urbig is also more than happy with his role, but he is expected to become the first-choice keeper when Neuer retires.
