- We will witness an event unprecedented in recent decades in Liga MX: three quarterfinal matches will be played on the same day. The last time this happened was in the 2006 Apertura, on November 26. What happened on that occasion? Chivas faced Cruz Azul, won the tie... and we all know how that story ended.- In that very Apertura 2006, the Rebaño beat La Máquina 2-4 on aggregate. 2-0 in the first leg at the Estadio Jalisco, and 2-2 in the second leg at the Estadio Azul. The Rojiblancos' goals were scored by Omar Bravo, 'Bofo' Bautista, and a brace from 'Ramoncito' Morales in the Rojiblanca capital.- The first match in the history of the short tournaments between Guadalajara and the Cementeros was played on Matchday 6 of the 1996 Invitation Tournament, in the midst of a downpour at the Jalisco Stadium. The Rojiblancos won 1-0, with a goal from 'Gabi' García.- Benjamín Galindo was crowned champion as a Rojiblanco in the 1986-1987 season, beating La Máquina 4-2 on aggregate. Ten years later, he was crowned champion of the top flight, now defending the colors of the Celestes.- El 'Maestro' not only won the Liga MX with Chivas and Cruz Azul, but also sat on the bench of both clubs as a strategist. He was first an assistant to Hans Westerhof in 2004, and took over as coach after the Dutchman's departure, reaching the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores. Before his second spell with the Rebaño, he managed Azul between the 2008 preseason and the 2009 season.- Guillermo 'Wendy' Mendizábal, who was league champion with Cruz Azul and Guadalajara, said goodbye to soccer in a match between the Rojiblancos and the Celestes on matchday 5 of the 1990-91 season, which ended in a goalless draw.- Eduardo de la Torre and Adolfo Bautista are Guadalajara's top scorers at home against La Máquina, both with five goals.
