After receiving his first France call-up in September, Hugo Ekitiké (23) is back in the squad for the current international break, as Les Bleus prepare to face Azerbaijan and Iceland in FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His arrival in the national team set-up has coincided with his summer move to Liverpool and a strong start to life at Anfield.

In his first 10 games with the Merseyside club, he already has five goals, and during the current international break, he will have the privilege of wearing the No.9 jersey for Didier Deschamps’ side.

Having arrived in Clairefontaine on Monday, Ekitiké, like the rest of his teammates, trained on Tuesday. In a video released by France’s socials, Deschamps could be heard complimenting the former Paris Saint-Germain and Stade de Reims striker during a shooting drill.

Having found the far corner with a right-footed finish, he then used his left to find the far corner soon after. “Oh yes, that’s what happens when you’re two-footed,” said Deschamps.
