Sevilla Atlético are seeking stability after relegation and are moving to appoint a new head coach.

According to La Colina De Nervion, the sporting department are seriously weighing up the former Xerez CD coach, Diego Galiano, who knows the set-up on the carretera de Utrera and is available after a notable spell.

After a bruising year, Luci Martín departed by mutual consent on nine March following a slump worsened by defeat in the Derbi Chico to Betis Deportivo. Marco García stepped up from Cadete A, but the side finished 20th in Group two of Primera Federación with 28 points and dropped to Segunda RFEF.

A graduate of the youth ranks on the carretera de Utrera, Galiano played for Sevilla Atlético. As a centre-back he made almost 400 Segunda B appearances with Cultural Leonesa, CD Logroñés, Balompédica Linense, Polideportivo Ejido and Racing Portuense, then retired at CD Guadalcacín in 2019.

In the dugout he impressed at CA Antoniano, securing survival then promotion, before taking Xerez CD in Segunda Federación in summer 2025. His team had a strong league campaign and reached the play-off semi-finals, where Conquense progressed on league placing after 1-1 and 0-0 draws.

Galiano has since left Xerez, a decision taken regardless of the play-offs. He said he departs with regret at missing promotion yet with his head high after giving everything, and he thanked the club for the opportunity. A swift return to Sevilla Atlético is one option under consideration.
