Atletico Madrid are set to be handed a double injury boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final tie with Arsenal.

Diego Simeone's side host the Gunners in the first leg next Wednesday before making the trip to north London for the reverse fixtures six days later.

Atletico feared that they would be without key attacking duo Ademola Lookman and Alexander Sorloth for the first leg.

Lookman picked up what was reportedly an adductor injury in the Copa del Rey final defeat to Copa del Rey and had to come off.

Alexander Sorloth played the full match but also picked up an issue, and Atletico confirmed that the pair would "follow an individualised plan" away from the first-team group in training.

That left them as doubts to face Arsenal, but Simeone has now revealed that Atletico could have Sortloth and Lookman back this weekend to face Athletic Club.

“We’ll monitor Sorloth and Lookman after their minor injuries and see if they can recover for Saturday, the doctors say it’s possible," Simeone said.

If there are no setbacks, it now appears likely that both players will be available for the first-leg showdown with Arsenal.

Sortloth has six goals in the Champions League this season, including one at the Nou Camp in the previous round, despite starting only five of Atletico's 14 matches in the competition.

Lookman has come into the form over the last month with three goals in five matches.

The winger scored in the second leg against Barcelona to stall their comeback and then netted the equalised against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Neither Arsenal or Atletico will go into the semi-final tie in a particularly impressive run of form.

The Gunners have won just one of their last six matches, while Atletico's only win in their last eight was in the quarter-final first leg against Barcelona.

When the two sides met in the league phase of the Champions League earlier this season, Arsenal thrashed Atletico 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
