Dieguinho is sixth academy graduate involved in Corinthians goal

In the 2-2 draw between Corinthians and Botafogo, played at Neo Química Arena, attacking midfielder Dieguinho recorded his first goal involvement for the Timão’s professional team. With this, the number 61 became the sixth homegrown player to directly contribute to a goal for the first team this year.

The play happened ten minutes into the match, when Raniele recovered the ball in the opponent’s defensive area. The midfielder passed to Dieguinho, who returned it for the number 14 to score the first goal for the black-and-white team in the game.

Among the six players developed at Terrão who have been involved in goals for the professional team this season, the standout is Gui Negão, with five goals and two assists. Second on the list is Breno Bidon, with one goal and one assist, the same numbers as defender João Pedro.

Three other players have just one contribution each: André Luiz (one goal), Dieguinho (one assist), and Ryan (one assist).

Throughout the season, other academy players have also been given opportunities, but have not yet been directly involved in goals. They are: João Vitor, Luiz Gustavo Bahia, Luiz Eduardo, and Kayke.

Corinthians return to the field next Wednesday to face Fortaleza at Arena Castelão. The match, scheduled for 7 p.m. and valid for the 37th round of the Brasileirão, represents another opportunity for Dieguinho to try to earn even more space with coach Dorival Júnior.
