Eric Dier endured another torrid outing, implicated in all three Lorient goals as Monaco slipped to defeat. According to Nice-Matin, the Englishman never imposed himself at the back on a bleak night for the hosts.

Monaco started brighter. Folarin Balogun carved an opening inside two minutes and headed on target at 7’, while Kassoum Ouattara supplied early crosses. Bamba Dieng then netted in the zones of Dier and Wout Faes, but the effort was ruled offside.

After the break, Philipp Köhn, quiet before half-time, was beaten three times. Dier failed to attack the ball on the first, Faes also lost a key duel. Jean-Victor Makengo’s strike deflected off Dier for the second, then Karim curled into the top corner for the third, with Caio Henrique also involved.

Maghnes Akliouche raised his level after the interval, twice testing Yvon Mvogo at 56’ and 58’. Balogun kept asking questions and later teed up Ansu Fati, who scored in two attempts at 76’ after coming on at 70’.

Ouattara made way for Vanderson on 70’, the Brazilian’s aggression helping force the turnover before the equaliser. Georges Mikautadze Ilenikhena entered at 62’ without impact, with Brunner on at 90’+3.

Denis Zakaria, booked at 70’, looked short of his best and did not close Makengo for the second goal. Aleksandr Golovin was industrious but erratic, while Mads Bidstrup Biereth never found his timing. The coach’s changes hinted at momentum, yet it proved illusory as Monaco fell short.
