Dijon are back in Ligue 2 after sealing the National title with a 2-1 win at Le Puy-en-Velay, combined with Sochaux’s defeat at Châteauroux.

Waly Diouf struck in the 31st minute and Michaël Barreto added the second on 64 minutes during the penultimate round, matchday 31. According to L'Équipe, Dijon, coached by Baptiste Ridira, dropped out of Ligue 2 after 2022-2023 and had finished fourth in each of the past two seasons.

Sochaux, relegated after 2022-2023 as well, missed the chance to go up on Saturday, losing 2-1 at Châteauroux. Fleury-Mérogis, third and three points back before kick-off, lost 0-2 at Orléans. Vincent Hognon’s side retain that cushion ahead of hosting Le Puy-en-Velay on Friday’s final day.

Sochaux hold a three-point lead and a far superior goal difference, 25 to 18, over Fleury-Mérogis. They are being chased by Rouen and Versailles for third place, which carries a play-off against Ligue 2’s 16th.

At the bottom, Stade Briochin beat Quevilly-Rouen Métropole 3-0 for a second straight win, yet it was not enough to survive. Saint-Brieuc finish bottom.

Châteauroux remain in the fight and will play for survival at Valenciennes, 10th, on Friday. At the same time, QRM, one point ahead of Châteauroux, host Paris 13 Atlético, 13th.
