NT Vascaínos reports that Vasco da Gama are close to confirming their first major signing for 2026, 23-year-old Uruguayan defender Alan Saldivia, following a direct request from the coaching staff.

The Colo-Colo centre-back is being lined up to replace Luiz Gustavo, sold to Bahia, and to end makeshift solutions in defence, with Hugo Moura recently deputising.

The proposed deal is a one-year loan costing US$ 300,000, about R$ 1.6 million, with a clause that could oblige a purchase at the end of the spell.

If the stipulated targets are met, Vasco would pay a further US$ 1.5 million to acquire 70% of Saldivia’s economic rights.

Fernando Diniz expressly recommended Saldivia as part of a plan to refresh the back line with players who carry resale potential.
