Diniz is working the corridors of CT Joaquim Grava to persuade Corinthians’ key players to resist departures during the World Cup.

According to Globo.com, European bids are expected for Yuri Alberto, Breno Bidon, Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho and André, and the coach has been holding regular one-to-ones to keep the group intact for the second half of the year.

His staff believe the team can contest the Copa do Brasil and the Conmebol Libertadores once domestic play resumes after the World Cup, citing growing cohesion, recent trophy experience, strong home form and a solid Libertadores group stage.

Yuri Alberto is the main worry after saying last week he plans to move to Europe. Diniz has spoken to him almost daily, views him as irreplaceable and argues staying would benefit him in the medium and long term. Despite later claiming a misunderstanding, the plan stands, and a sale is trending even without a €20 million bid, the board’s minimum for their share worth about R$ 116.34 million.

Zenit sounded out Matheuzinho, who was not keen on Russia, and André, who nearly joined Milan, could go if a strong offer lands. After the draw with Peñarol in Uruguay, Diniz said retention is the priority and one or two additions would help. With a deficit and a budget target of R$ 151 million from transfers and solidarity in 2026, and after rejecting R$ 103 million from Milan for André, the club may need to sell during the World Cup break.
