Diogo Costa on City: “We had chances to level, but you suffer”

Diogo Costa spoke to Sport TV after FC Porto’s defeat to Manchester City (2-0) in the opening matchday of the Champions League league phase. At the end of the match, the Portuguese international said:

“I think we proved that we came here to compete; we really wanted to win. After it went to 1-0, we had chances to win, and I think that later, with a bit of anxiety, we ended up conceding the 2-0. In trying so hard, we ended up losing a bit of concentration in defence. City are not just any team. We varied our play, we had chances to equalise, but when you don’t score and you’re up against this level of quality, you suffer.”
