Sky Germany are reporting that Dion Beljo is set to join Augsburg this winter after a verbal agreement was reached between the parties.
Details are still to be clarified but the transfer fee will be between €5m-€6m and Beljo’s contract will be until 2027. The 20-year-old is seen as a replacement for the departing Florian Niederlechner who is set to join Hertha Berlin whilst Mergim Berisha is set to return to Fenerbahce when his loan expires.
The Croatian had been heavily linked to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the past couple of months but Gladbach never capitalised on this interest.
This season Beljo has eight goals in 16 appearances in the Croatia first division. He will add to Augsburg’s attacking options for next season with the likes of Ermedin Demirovic, Rubén Vargas, André Hahn and the returning Ricardo Pepi who is currently on loan at Groningen.
Augsburg are currently 14th in the Bundesliga and are one point ahead of the relegation places.
